Forced to Change My Character's Name With A Transfer
Common Problems
- I moved realms and I was asked to change my name, I wanted to keep it
- The name of my character is taken by someone else in the other server, can you release it for me?
When your character's name is taken by another player in the realm you are moving to, your character will be renamed and you will be asked to choose a new name before you can log in with the character. This name change is, of course, free of charge.
If you are moving your character from a WoW account to another while staying on the same realm, you will also be asked to choose a new name.
Blizzard Customer Support cannot help you with keeping the original name.
