Unlocking Arena Mode for New Players

You can unlock the Arena mode in Hearthstone by completing the Apprentice Track that comes after the initial tutorial. You can use the Skip button at any moment during either the tutorial or the apprentice track to unlock The Arena mode immediately.

Hearthstone Arena Modes

The Hearthstone Arena received a big update with the release of patch 32.4. For an explanation of these changes, read below.

There are now two different Arena modes:

The Arena 

  • Admission price is one (1) ticket
  • Losing twice will end your run
  • You can win up to five (5) games
  • To see a preview of the rewards, you can click on the Treasure chest on the Arena recap screen only available before or after an Arena game 

The Underground

  • Unlocks after seven (7) wins in The Arena Mode even across multiple runs
  • Admission price is two (2) tickets
  • Losing three (3) times will end your run
  • You can win up to 12 games
  • After every loss you can swap out five (5) cards from your current deck for five (5) new cards
  • To see a preview of the rewards, you can click on the Treasure chest on the Arena recap screen only available before or after an Arena game 
  • From the sixth win onward, you will have a chance to earn the Crowd's Favor, an additional 2000 gold to your prize pool

Both modes

  • Arena rewards can now be random
  • A question mark (?) in a reward indicates you will receive one item from the listed options
  • If the reward is a random card, the card is subject to duplicate protection
